The buzz from a good winner for me can extend to Monday morning Peter so that's why I didn't mind the Monday 9am show.

I liked Glenrowan Prince a lot on Saturday, yet he seemed to be ignored by Racing .com tipsters and even Monty couldn't find a spot for him in his top 5.
I wouldn't mind hearing a summary of the race by some one like Dean Lester, who is worth listening to, on a Monday morning.
Longer priced winners as well as being profitable are also very satisfying

The rest of the time, for sure country music.

I no longer listen to 2KSKY of a morning -- a dogs breakfast served form 9 am to 11 am is just useless to anyone. Languid chats to nice but irrelevant people are a waste of scarce time -- if there is nothing to say, just play country music or western music.

What is the difference between Country music and Western music?

I agree Peter. Put on some Hank Williams or Chad Morgan instead of the racing scratchings and tips   emthup

PPM was a good show.
Who made the decision, it's dumb?

......................the racing scratchings and tips

---------------- are precisely what should be presented in a printed format......... and they are

..............the scratchings are on tab.com.au. ........... and as for tips there are pages of them in print on paper and on screen on the net.

One would not mind the additional broadcast of 'voice-over tips in person' provided there was some accountability -- not just  gloating after the occasional good day but a proper scored record of success and failure which would be clearly broadcast before and after a tipsters voice-over program (a sobering reminder of the facts).

The spoken presentation is often now so badly contrived that there are pre-scripted interjections to lend an aura of expertise and 'deep knowledge' to the broadcast discussions of form -- anything being said would best be reduced to print so we can scan it and consider whether it is worth actually reading.

Some of the commentators are also very apparently overworked to the point of distraction -- the same unleavened flood of words, day after day, suggesting there is no other potential commentator than a currently famous five.

There is nothing being said on the pre and post race broadcasts that could not be put in print and, so, communicated more effectively -- and bolstered by transparent accountability after the race.

Spruikers, required to explain why we lost our money, may even get their tongue around the idea that the field was 'too crowded'  that no-hopers rushing to the front folded and denied a fair go to the better horses et al.

As for the actual racing -- one could hardly imagine a worse situation: once the horses have passed the post there is a commentator competition to explain in depth why a previously not-mentioned outsider was actually the logical winner.

There is no looking back  -- above all there is no mention of races being run like a pinball game sure to deliver a random outcome.

Talk about 'fun' -- look at the quadrella races at Sandown today on a 'good 3' track -- first fours averaging $4,000 and a quadrella dividend of some $35,000.

....... one could go on, and on and on........... where is the new board for RVL?

[...... and as for Winx on Saturday ........... it has a 15kg advantage over any in the field likely to be suited at the distance ....... should win .............. but ....... affected track ....... a few Davids looking for glory.......... ?]

Almost the entire field in last weeks Manfred Stakes at Caulfield were first up.
Lot of promising 3 yr olds heading in different directions.
How many were there to win and how many having a warmup can only become apparent close to start time.
Can't see how any print tipster with a certain deadline could be that helpful.
Maybe remind us that Legless Veuve was without the dreaded bar plates,

One look at Legless Veuve in the mounting yard told anyone one thing and that was "Back Me"

Pretty much locked into Racing.com, so can't confirm, but believe Dean Lester did say as much to his Sky listeners.

Difficult to see how anything in print could be relayed effectively, 5 minutes before the start.

Seriously you people at Sky TAB are d1ckheads.

Why is there a split screen during a Leopardstown Grade 1 when Vincennes is a good 2 minutes from jumping ?

LOL

The last post on this thread is exactly why I came here to vent.

Sha Tin r5 is on SKY2, so to most people that would me switching viewing to their phone, tablet or computer ie - a smaller screen.

So here we are and Sha Tin are racing yet some nuffie at SKY has it as a split screen with a dog race from Victoria, now I'd understand if they were racing but no, they were just standing behind the boxes, anyone with half a clue of racing could see they weren't going to load up.

So we end up watching a small screen that's even smaller due to the split screen.     :bash: :bash:

Why stop there Gin?

Sky got rid of some o/s analysts so they can get a feed from o/s. Why not use 528 to do broadcast races every night for English and South African Racing till the Australian races stop?

The split screens are crap when you are watching on a mobile or tablet. Worse is when it is split screen and no audio.

I'm struggling to understand why SR1 schedule races when they have no intention of running them on 1.

Yesterday there were 4 Werribee races on SR1 which were moved to to SR2 before jump time, all of which jumped on time or within 10 sec of scheduled start time. Sydney was planned for 3 mins after each Werribee race but why schedule a race on 1 which despite jumping on time is moved to SR2. Schedule it on 2 in the first place.

I get the NSW and TAB connection bias but it's deadset amateur hour there atm

The SKY 1 / 2 thing is always a debacle.

I've never got my head around why you should have to 'pay' to access SKY 2  Yes I know I can get it on the app but it seems ridiculous that you are restricted on the  2nd channel.

I've got to wonder if anyone at SKY has ever watched a race FFS.

Ascot race 6 is hitting the top bend so what happens? Some numpty at SKY presses the button for split screen so we can see Ascot on one side and the horses walking in circles at Eagle Farm FFS!  They hadn't even started to load.

Agree with you.

The biggest issues I have with Sky Channel is listed below.

1. Split screens when one venue is racing while the other venue is not loaded or racing.

2. Races end and we jump straight to an ad even though there are photo finishes from the winner to the first 4.

3. I pay extra for Sky 2 and I think that Racing clubs that cannot jump on time should be chucked there for rest of the day if they have 3 late races in a day. It should also be free.

4. Stop using a close up if there is a tight finish. It is very frustrating. The metro clubs get it with Racing Victoria very quick on putting up the photo finish. A couple of great examples today. If they canít get the print there just show a replay of the finish and not a close up.

Just on the pay for view for Sky 2 I think it was explained by philby once (happy to be corrected)

The money goes to Foxtel for the use of spectrum.

That is why it is free on the internet but you have to pay for it if you watch it on Foxtel.

With modern smart TVs you can probably watch it via the internet.

Jeunes we could also add putting up the dividend box which blocks out the replay run on if there is a close finish for one of the placings

Happens time and again

Ok. I get Foxtel, sports and Movie packages including HD for around $50. Told my wife s2 is free and she does not get the bill so she is happy about the cost. I donít have to use my app or web to watch Sky 2.

It is win, win for me as she is now used to all the racing channels. Life is good.
