bubba - oh we knew alright.

I think technically - but will check - that the correct dividend ($1.04) has been posted - as we did not co-mingle on that race once singapore didn't take the vic tab investments. Thus local rules and not singapore rules apply when this occurs. I suspect that plain and simple, they are the rules.

I find the irony that because of this we've given some corproates a leg up!

Tabcorp's approach to paying this minimum dividend is akin to the old saying " heads I win,tails you lose ".If the pool is co-mingled they will go along with the higher deduction rate providing they do not have to pay the minimum dividend ( $ 1.20 ) then if that situation arises, they will opt out of the pool and revert to their own rules for minimum dividends ( $ 1.04 ).

On looking at the webpage for the race in question can you please explain how the place pool shows $1,791 was invested when no place dividends were declared. In Singapore they paid out place dividends for 1st & 2nd
Might I assume, when our pool was co mingled, before Tabcorp line to Singapore dropped out, punters would have been able to place bet, and invested $1,791, but once Tabcorp 'opted out' those bets were refunded.Having a look at those place dividends the market percentage was 125.95 % to pay 1st & 2nd, should not that percentage be 246%. With 19% , Singapore takeout rate , to pay two placings = 200%

bubba - will need to check tomorrow- but yes would suggest that the place investment was made on a migled pool and the refunded after tabcorp was taken out of the pool.

the place approximates do look strange - will need to find out what the mathematics of those was.

The Singapore site reveals some fascinating information.

The market for race 2 is a typical 126.8%.

But for Rocket Man's race it is only 84.5%.

Providing a risk free return of 15.5% of your turnover if you staked the Field proportionally!

So if the Club had $25 million turnover it would have managed to lose ~$4 million on the race!

I also saw that tote percentage on race one and with a pool size of $15 million ( Singapore) it is apparent it was inflated by punters in Singapore who availed themselves of the anomaly with the guaranteed profit. From the Supertab site the next largest pool on the night was around $627,000.
I know Rocket Man is set for a race in HK but when is it next running in Singapore ?

Presumably Rocket Man will next run following a change to the Minimum Return Rule.

While schmucks like me can only get a risk-free 15%, Corporates et al presumably can bet on credit so they can look forward to a risk-free return of infinity.

I'm surprised that Corporates evidently did not bother laying back AntiTab's play plus adding their own for good measure.

But next time round there should be an avalanche of opportunists.

And a potential catastrophe for relevant Totes.

The Singapore Turf Club was expecting what happened as to some extent it occurs
each time Rocket Man or Better than Ever run.

Last time Better than Ever ran (2 weeks ago) the pool was $A2.5 (that day others were 500K)
and the percentage was 91%.

Rocket Man is being set for the HK International sprint and I think his next race is the trial day in HK.

Not sure when Better than Ever is next running

The dividend was correctly declared at $1.04 - that I can confirm.

I'm still witing on a report regarding those strange looking place approximates

Singapore has minimum win dividend of $6.00, whereas place dividend is $5.00 , which is money back.

I assume with the co-mingled agreement Tabcorp, went along with those rules, including a higher takeout rate, which according to Tabcorp's spin doctors offers more stable dividends, except when the have a line dropout, when they apply Australian rules, which conveniently, does not guarantee a minimum win dividend of $1.20.

MagiC, provided you are talking about a Visa Debit card or a Mastercard Debit card, you can make a deposit on opening the account and start wagering immediately. Regards, Philby
