Thought it was an amazing win, glad to see Australian racing get a champ again.  shame that EI stopped he, Miss Andretti and Gold Edition clashing this spring, would have been a great racing spectacle. Does anyone know what the sectionals and overall time was?

Yes ... great to see him back, and is a shining light in some pretty dismal times after the effect EI has had on the Industry.

Thanks for that gratlog. can't believe TT ran the time he did with the 61kgs, it's the kind of stuff that makes racing popular again. hope he continues racing for a long time.

from this mornings paper i can tell you that the time was a class record 1:08.95.first 600 in 34.86,last 600 in 34.09.time compared to the course record of Ab Inito's 1:08.38 on a good track whereas yesterdays race was run on dead.
super race and a super effort from Takeover Target.good run from Dance Hero but i worry if that won't flatten him.DH has performed well first up before only to taper off very quickly.

The way he is sparingly raced bolt_babe , he should have lots more left in him .... and full kudos to Joe Janiak who is doing a great job with him.

I thought the run was great , Mintani is a great horse and shouldn't have been overlooked ... i think ND will be much better suited over 1200 to 1400, but was not disappointing IMO, and full credit to Mintanni , whos form last prep was behind the best sprinters in the country if not the world

No reason why he shouldn't, Takeover Target is relatively inexperienced in race starts, but TT has travelled to the other side of the world twice and earned more than $4.4 million from his 29 starts which have yielded 15 wins, five at Group One level.  Headed towards the Villers, not sure where Natural Density or for that matter Precise Timing are headed.

I thought the change of rider for Natural Destiny could have been vital but still great to see Mitani get home.
No doubt Colless is the better rider but Shane really knows the horse so well.

I had been tipping Babinda Half on Triple's forum all week and for a brief second thought it might have had a chance. Still did OK with our multis though.

Joe Janiak has received an official invitation yesterday from Singapore Turf Club officials for the $1 million ($A780,000) Krisflyer International Sprint (1200m) at Kranji on May 18.  This may kiss goodbye the chances of QLD'ers of seeing him in the Doomben 10,000.

Takeover Target ran a slick trackwork hitout at Randwick as he prepares for his second run this time in. He clocked 50.13s for the 800m gallop, moving over the final 400m in 23.94s.  The 8YO is likely to clash again with Dance Hero in the Razor Sharp Quality at Randwick on Dec 22. The Villiers Stakes 1400m at Randwick on 5 January is his major target.

There's nothing more to say apart from:

HAS THERE EVER BEEN A BETTER AGED SPRINTER in the WORLD?

The manner in which Takeover left some handy sprinters in his wake today will remain as one of Australian racing's most memorable moments.

Super horse, and a remarkable triumph by an erstwhile battling trainer.

Outstanding Horse. Champion. Just wonderful to have watched his career. His trainer needs a decent rap as well.   emthup

I'm sure Joe would much prefer a "wrap".  I don't think he's done much wrong. :nowink:

Well done to Joe and TT. In this age where a horse wins two or three in a row and is declared a champion, TT will be viewed by history as the "real" champion when we are all dead and buried. The whole story is almost Phar Lap-esque. Struggling cab driver buys horse for $1500, takes it to England to win at G1. Group 1 wins around most of the country, and in Japan and Singapore.

The jockey controversy only adds a chapter to this remarkable story for mine.

Did I read somewhere that Joe is taking TT to SA? What a great thing it will be if he lines up in the Goodwood. I can't recall a horse winning at Group 1/2 level in each mainland state (Kingston Town won G1's everywhere except SA). It will be another feather in Joe's cap.

Yep, he's aiming to be the first horse to do so.

Good luck both to both Takeover, Joe and whoevers on him lol

Hopefully they can pull it off and add another chapter to the story.  Champion.

I feel privilleged to have seen him live when he narrowly defeated Apache Cat at Ascot in one of the finest finishes ever seen.  Absolute champion.  His stature will grow with the years.
