Houston, we have a problem.......

How the  :censored: do you work out the most successful trainer/jockey combinations without a laborious one-combo-at-a-time effort ? No idea really, and I don't think I will find a solution. I have each runner from the last 3 years set up on an excel sheet with odds, finish position, tote price, SP, trainer and jockey, and betting outlay for each horse proportionally staked, plus return, if any.

In the meantime, if anyone would like a combo checked, I can do it for you. I am guessing the real gems will be hidden among the not-so-well-knowns.

The thinking is that trainers have go-to jocks when they think their horse is ready to win, and are less fussy about rider selection at other times.

I'm sure if I was an owner i'd be fussy who rode my horse.
Then again we used to let Graham Horselman ride ours, I guess no one else wanted to ride it

Max at Racing And Sports you can get the Jockey record up and it will list the details by Trainers the Jockey has had the most rides for.

You can even rely on the published Profit/Loss on $10 bets at SP and POT%'s now.

Wenona, you have  :censored: hi-jacked this thread.

Still, I might use that R&S site to lead me into combos that have enough statistical weight to warrant analysis via the betting test.

And yes, Harvey had more rides for L Smith than any others, and the betting results were the best of the major trainers he rode for.
