https://olbg.com.au/betting-school/wet-track-sires-australian-horse-racing

I have added a column which quantifies the improvement in strike rate for a sire when the tracks are wet:

A So You Think who is bred to be a sprinter and has a bit of swimming blood as well. Hopefully does the job in a small field in the next at Randwick.

Eh,

This list must have plenty of missing data.

Pretty sure Clangalang should feature heavily there but is absent.

Cheers PP, timely coming into winter. Also add anything by Host, they swim nicely.

Might go look for some Pierro's out of Tavistock mares haha :)

The heading of this thread is a misnomer??
There is something very few punters understand and I shouldn't be telling anyone this.............. heavy tracks and wet tracks can be totally different.......

like today at Randwick, I thought 2 horses were ridiculous overs, You make me Smile($36) and I thought So($7)........both were beaten on a very wet track at their last start, when heavily backed,
Today the Track had the same rating Heavy 9......but.....and it is a very big but....it wasn't wet! it hadn't rained for 2 days and the sun was shining both days..........it was deep thick mud but not sloppy and slippery surface mud, like when it rains close to or during a meeting....what you needed was a horse that likes the sting out(as the So You Thinks do) but not necessarily a Wet/heavy tracker.....fitness is also as if not more important than wet track ability when the mud is thick like today.......

Punters are fickle, last start Jungle Edge was overs on a heavy/wet track and he was $8, I thought so was the 7/4 fav and was unders.....this week it was the exact reverse............it ain't Rocket Science.....totally different races on different tracks......believe it or not!

I backed You Make Me Smile today, nkt because of the track but because the jockey butchered him last start.

Like I have said many times, you can get it wrong and still get the Chocolates!....I agree with your view but that wasn't the point, I am trying to teach you something that very few punters realise, the examples I used was to make a point....not to be taken literally.......nothing works 100% of the time, it all comes down to price and getting "overs" if both horses had been similar prices to the previous week I would not have backed either of them.....there was logical reasons to think they would improve on last weeks results, doesn't mean you will always get that improved result
Forget about You Make Me Smile and I thought So.......Look at the big picture..........concentrate on the different track conditions even though they were rated identical, that was the point I was making....or keep thinking the way you always thought..........just trying to provoke some different thoughts on a long held view, make of it what you will

With no rain and sensible stewards......

Is it possible for a track rating to go from firm to dead to slow to heavy to slow to firm all on the same day?

Dave,

Something just like this happened in a very cold climate that started frozen over then warmed up dramatically then froze again through the day.
