I saw him at Eagle Farm last Wednesday & he was in good spirits.

I see that his ol mate Racehorses who made a comment somewhere in here about him being indisposed or words to that effect.

So I'm presuming he's on hols & hasn't told us ........ 8)

Yes, he was partaking in one of his short weekend holidays last weekend I believe.

He did say he would be right for this Saturday though, so he shouldn't be too far away.

Do you feel honored to be missed?

BTW check out the horse of Peter Strong's in the first today. Had blinkers for the first time today and might have another win in it if placed correctly.

Yes, gratlog.  Totally.  Words cannot express the sense of pride that overtook me when I looked in here tonight.

Nice win by the Strong mare.  I actually went to the tote to back her but stayed out.

Peter's a really nice guy and can train a winner.  She carried the colours of the brilliant filly STRONG QUEEN (who raced before Peter was born).

MD

First thing to say is that Funtantes was beaten by a potential top-liner.  He'll be winning a Group race in the very near future.

As for Cassidy's ride on Funtantes, he had few options from the draw.  He took the preferred option to sit outside the favourite in mid-field, with the four others going along in front.   We'd have also expected him to wait till the turn before making a move.  Alas, everything went belly-up when Ms Gill couldn't hold Brennan on the rails.  This took the two outside her wide, gave Streets Away the inside run and put Funtantes into a boxing match with the weakening trio in front of her.  Cassidy did nothing wrong, IMO.  With a clear run she'd have got 2nd. Racing can be like that.
