I put her ahead of Sunline now

Winx is great, but she has got a long way to go until you can put her in front of Sunline.

I mean, prior to today, how many times has First Seal beaten her in the past?  ;)

You're all correct on her resume but I'm talking more about my eye.  I reckon she's at least the equal on sheer ability but that's always got potential too turn into a fight

If they couldn't get close today how and who is going to challenge her over further?
The way Bowman pushed the button early to get her in a striking position, and then go again up the straight...only greats can do that.
Also I think we can put to bed the discussion about First Seal v Winx for a while.

Chris Waller still refusing to afford his mighty mare Winx champion status

CHRIS Waller still can’t bring himself to rank Winx a champion — but for the rest of the racing world the mighty mare has nothing more to prove.

Winx is a phenomenon and her win in the George Ryder Stakes on a memorable Golden Slipper day was the best thing to happen to The Championships at Royal Randwick in two weeks.

...

Waller has said if Winx wins another Cox Plate this year he will afford her racing’s ultimate ranking. But if Winx can win the Doncaster-Queen Elizabeth double, surely even Waller will label her a champ.

He does talk her down a lot. It appears to me he has a higher opinion of others but she keeps surprising him

I think she just down plays here to ease the pressure a l;ittle. As she keeps on winning you can see each time he is interviewed that he is relieved that she keeps doing it.

Every time they step out they have to keep proving themselves. You could see the relief on Peter Moody when ever Black Caviar won and the same is happening with Waller now.

Many rivers to cross.  It is a long way to the top but Winx has done extremely well to even make to this board.

If she was mine I would be running her rather than the cotton wool approach

Yes I would too. She certainly hasn't been over raced as a 4 year old. So far only 6 starts with no injuries that I am aware of.

It is not as if she will be off to Brisbane again.

I think it depends on which race they want.  If they are really locked on to the QE then the Doncaster is probably a by-pass.  If they are 'taking it as it comes' then they would probably consider the QE if she came through the Doncaster all right.  I reckon they are on the former course.  The QE is the one they want.

Last chance for her to win a handicap I would suggest. She won't be able to win either of the Cups and or the Epsom in the spring now. She is not a sprinter, so as good as she is, she will have trouble competing internationally.

A mare - no big stud deal- I think it's a no brainer for to compete in the Doncaster with 56.5 kg if she is fit and well.

Winx's rating has risen to 120 ( 58.5 ) which means she is in the Doncaster 2 kgs to her advantage.

Why the negative post ianb?

I would think she has it all ahead of her and if she maintains her current form she is next to unbeatable.

So they don't have mile to 2000m races O/S eh?

I don't know of any Australian horse other than So You Think who has been really able to compete in that range.

Haradun Sun did win win the 2008 Queen Anne Stakes but I would suggest he was gifted it.

The only reason So You Think went to Europe was to make his name as a stallion and hopefully win the race with the really big money the Arc.

On current form Winx can win any WFA between 1400 - 2000M in Australia.

PP7 her time in the George Ryder tells us she way ahead of anything racing in Australia at the moment. It just doesn't make sense to prove she might be as good as So You Think.

Better Street Cry mare Zenyatta or Winx?

Good question.

Winx has taken on the boys all 4yo year. I believe Zenyatta lost her only open race at 4. Happy to be corrected.

In recent times, who other than Criterion has been over to compete?
