One of the benefits of wining the Andrew Ramsden is an entry into The Cup.

What's the story about that had there been a dead-heat as there very nearly was?

After the judge ruled in favour of Steel Prince, Victoria Racing Club racing manager Leigh Jordon admitted "we would have had to find a place for both horses" and the raucous celebrations reached another level as winning connections chaired winning jockey Damien Oliver some of the way back to scale while chanting his name.

Thanks Gin.

Seems a simple remedy would be to state that  in the event of a dead-heat the one whose nom was received the earlier would be beneficiary of the spot in The Cup.

Just realized this.

Dunno whether it's ever been done before.

In four of the five metrop meetings today four jockeys each rode four winners

Pike -Belmont
Dunn- Caulfield
Berry-  Rosehill
Shinn- Doomben

New R&S Format  . .

Still 'learning' to navigate

The 'neural' and 'worksheet' prices are listed in market order rather than saddlecloth order . . which I don't like

Is there button to fix this . . I am not too savvy with the computer, so it might be sitting there looking at me

Thanks for that JWH

Took me a while to work out  :chin: . . but

I was talking to an ex- NRL  player and asked him about one of his team-mates . .

He said: "Think of the dumbest bloke you know, and try to imagine somebody dumber . . well "X" is dumber than the bloke you imagined . ."

C'est moi, with computers

B. Wilson. The race was run on 3rd of Sept. 1961. Lane did not ride in any race on that day.

Anyone have a clue how to contact Racenet, I can't see a 'contact us' link on the home page. I can't log into my blackbook. after entering my login details it takes me back to the login page.

Found that by googling so not sure whether any good.

It 's something that really shits me these days is that c ompanies, and individuals, are making it so difficult for anyone to contact them.

This might be a very stupid question but why do owners and trainers nominate horses for a race that they will never run in? Doesn’t it cost money for most nominations?

I can understand tactically if they want to suppress weights for stablemates, scare off opposition, prestige for owners etc. However I do have a hard time to reconcile blind optism with stupidity especially when you already told people you will not run them or simply not good enough. Just  check Epsom, Metropolitan and Turnbull nominations.

I can understand when the noms are taken well in advance.

The Metrop and Epsom noms were taken 3 weeks ago so maybe it is in case something changes in the time before the race.
As far as the Turnbull is concerned where the noms  closed today no idea why you would nominate with no intention of running.

The Epsom and Metropolitan have horses which have been nominated for both races which is strange as you would think the trainers would have an idea of  optimum distance less than a month away. In the Turnbull there are nominations for horses that ran yesterday.

Can someone let me know if Frank Reys rode the good sprinter Maritana  in the 60’s. A comment was made on radio that he rode the horse all the time. As a fan of Frank, I cannot recall him throwing his leg over the horse?..
