Even back when I was playing soccer had the largest junior base by far.
Nothing has changed and it still lags behind the other codes.
Soccer definitely had the smallest junior base when I was perpetually warming benches.
My opinions are based on figures and I believe a significant amount has changed.
I'd imagine Soccer has now surpassed Union, despite minimal mainstream positive coverage.
The J, K and China, as well as the growing USA offer more opportunities for local players, with lesser geographic disruption.
The emerging City phenomenon is just win, win, win, win.
In Tennis is you're outside the Top 100(?) the caper can be tough.
With Soccer if you crack the Top 200(?) then you'd be flatulating in silk.
Talented Australian soccer playing juniors who have a choice of codes should find that Soccer is their best bet.
But another season is starting so let's just monitor the figures.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Australian_football_code_crowds
