Ok, I thought I'd kick of a weekly Super14 comp... up for grabs each week is 50% of a $10 4-leg all-up on the following weeks Super14 games (the winner chooses two legs, I'll choose the other two)... it'll most likely be on UniTAB because I'm too lazy to put it anywhere else. Note: There are no bets for the winners during rounds 8 and 9 while I am away on holidays - they'll be for fun only.

I'll keep track of the overall score throughout the season, but there may or may not be a prize for the overall winner (will see how the interest level is after a few weeks... who knows, might be able to sort something out).

It's pretty straight forward - you can't have a Super14 comp without having bonus points, so that's going to form a large part of who wins.

Each week you need to nominate the winner of each game and also pick the score of the winning team (doesn't matter if the team you pick loses, the score is for whichever team wins). If you pick the winner, you get two points, if the winning team scores within 5 of your nominated score, you get a bonus point... if you pick the exact winning teams score, you get an additional bonus point.

Simple enough?

Here's this weeks games, I'll update this first post each week with the current rounds games - don't forget to pick both the winner and a score for each game.

Round 8

Western Force v Reds Subiaco Oval, Perth
Crusaders (NZ) v Bulls (SA) AMI Stadium, Christchurch
Cheetahs (SA) v Brumbies Vodacom Park, Bloemfontein
Sharks (SA) v Hurricanes (NZ) ABSA Stadium, Durban
Chiefs (NZ) v Lions (SA) Waikato Stadium, Hamilton
Waratahs v Stormers (SA) SFS, Sydney

OL, Gratlog and Jeunes are the winners for week seven - if you can give me one selection each on this weeks S14 games covered by UniTAB by Friday morning, I'll put on a $10 4-leg multi bet that we'll share 25% each.

Here are the latest results (you can also view the table here):

Nah, I'd have to add stuff up then, lol

I'm more than happy to hear suggestions, but want to keep it fairly simple... if more than one person ties for the weekly win, they can all share in the weekly bet... if it happens too much, then I reserve the right to tweak the bonus points system :)

I don't mind magic - whatever you decide... probably makes sense to just put it in the sports section for now, and if there comes a point where there are heaps of sports comps, or they start getting lost, you can create a separate section for them then?

BT, I think you should make it that you only can receive the bonus point if your team wins and you're within 5 points of their score

We'll see how it goes this way first - I don't want it to be too hard to get a bonus point, but there's no point in it being too easy either... if anything, I'll probably change it to be within 3 points, but I'll make that call after round 1, we'll stick with 5 for now.

Just for something to compare to, round 1 last year had these scores for the winners: 34, 22, 17, 32, 20, 16, 23 - so there is some decent variance there.

Personally I reckon the bookies have no f'n idea where to set their lines for the opening round, and it'll probably be that way for another week or so.

I'd say telling him to ban anyone that tries to tell him how to run his comp is telling him how to run his comp in itself  :p

Don't forget to get your tips in before kickoff - first game tomorrow is in NZ, so kickoff about 5:30 on the east coast of Oz.

Also, you should put a team in for Fantasy Rugby at http://fantasy.rugby.com.au - join the league RacehorseTalk password: supersub to play along with others from this forum... the top team each week for that site can win a rugby ball signed by all 4 Australian team captains, so worth a shot.
