"His Test record at home is a testament to that fact: 24 innings, 1027 runs at 44.65, three centuries and five half-centuries.
If you exclude Marsh’s first five innings – scratched together during the 2011/12 home summer before an exodus that lasted more than two years – his average in familiar surrounds skyrockets to 59.41.
Only five current players have tallied higher numbers since Marsh’s recall in December 2014 – Steve Smith (96.4), Usman Khawaja (67.52), Peter Handscomb (65.85), David Warner (65.05) and Matthew Renshaw (63).
Both Smith and Khawaja had their fair share of struggles before feeling comfortable at the highest level, while Handscomb and Renshaw have drifted considerably since bursting onto the scene in 2016."

The facts seem to bely the statement that he's only a good shield player. I think he averaged in the 70's against the Poms
last year too.
