So, we either have to get rid of the sports on which sports bets are made or get rid of betting on sports.

I know how I vote.

Do you honestly believe that because sports betting is now more available that the results are now more compromised? Surely in the past when betting was behind closed doors that players would be able to throw a game more easily.

The AFL heirachy should tell the St Kilda football club at half time if they don't perform in the 2nd half instead of throwing the game, they will be kicked out of the comp

Can someone explain to me why the side leading the comp would want to throw this game?

Wouldn't want to go into the GF with the pressure of not having lost a game all season (see NE Patriots). Bet they are shorter for the flag now too.

How many teams from either the NRL or the AFL have gotten to the decider undefeated and been beaten ?

That's such a bullshit thought.  Why wouldn't you want to go in undefeated ?

Andrew McKay said every time they won a game it made them feel more invincible.

Bit like on Cox Plate day. I usually back the first six winners and then punt on a no hoper in the race before the Plate. I don't want to go into the "grand final" undefeated.

I like Sports & I like to bet so to me I get the best of both worlds.   emthup
If they banned betting on horseracing, I'd probably still watch it but don't think I'd get the same adrenalin rush or care as much who came 3rd.

My father-in-law (who is not a sports lover), thinks 99% of both horseracing & sports are rigged anyway.  I will be hearing shortly how St Kilda threw the game to give the other teams more hope of winning the title & how it promotes discussion about AFL & how Tiger let Yang win so golf will become even bigger in Asia (if that's possible?)

I hope Wing's missed goal cost the money-grubbbers  some money.

How wonderful it was that he was given the last shot at goal.

No one cared whether or not he was successful.

If you bet on these sorts of things, then bad luck. 8-)

So you are happy it has cost a charity some money. Good to see your priorities are in the right place.

Funny that you are happy that a massive money grubber was given a shot at goal or is he going to Japan for the challenge.  ;)

might only be a thousand or two if the final leg of OL and 777 bets get up up so never mind. As long as the money grubber got his kick before saying sayonara by his own choice.  ;)

Get them to give me a ring, and I'll pay for what they didn't win, providing that sports betting is banned.

Don't tell me.

OL took Brisbane with 29.5 start, and they didn't take the last conversion attempt.

You'd be dirty if ya had pick the scores 40-6 & 40-12 but on the other hand, those that had 40-10 are blessed.

Who in their right mind would bet on this?

Winner of Toss 3rd ODI AUS-PAK Win Toss

Pick the Winner of the Toss
No.  Description  Win
116978 Australia $1.90
116979 Pakistan $1.90

See what the Paki bookies have as faves and get on it. Easy money.

Of course I won't be betting on this option unless I can get some prior knowledge of who is tossing. Any form on that?

I'd be reasonably confident they would not, and if you ever see better than evens one option, be very suspicious of the coin-tosser.

I was thinking: there's a nice little earner for the skippers and the overseer.

Last match, Ponting was going to bat, Yousuf was going to bowl, there was quid to be make for sure.

The only way to win would be to bet on heads after 3-4 tails in a row, or vise versa.
That's when 1.90 would become value.  :slaphead:
