Entry is now open, and remains open for the first 4 rounds on the NRL competition.

Any late entry is to no disadvantage.

If you are a past player of the NRL Double Up Tipping Competition, this is an invitation back for 2012, and advise where and how we will be playing - off a new web site ( nrldoubleup.com ). Go to the web site, follow the easy steps below (How to join in) register and get started.

If you have not played previously then this is an invitation to join a fun format that many suggest is the best tipping comp about, one that will keep you interested for the full length of the season and throw up plenty of twists and fun along the way.

The web site will make things far easier this year;
- you will be able to enter your tips direct
- be an able to check other tips, results and scores live at any time

Greater detail on the comp is listed below (any questions please ask), jump aboard and start tipping!!

Feel free to invite any friends or family who you think might like to join in.

NRL Double Up Tipping Competition 2012

How Do I Join In?
- Visit the web address – nrldoubleup.com
- It you played last year you can use your same log in details (if not sure pls PM me)
- Register as a member (your log in name will be your comp name)
- You will receive an email for verification, the get started!
- Start tipping from Round 1 onwards
- You may join at any time across the first 4 rounds (late entry will not be a disadvantage under the double up format)
- Entry fee is $40 per player (paid prior to the start of round 5)
- When logged in follow the steps under the Payment tab to process your payment, either by Pay Pal or direct bank deposit

Weekly tipping with a twist

Most tipping comps are pretty straight forward, tip each week, gain points for correct selections, hope you get it mostly right through the first month or so and then be in contention for the rest of the season. But for 90% of the players who drop out of contention the weekly interest diminishes, players drop off or drop out and another season turns to nothing.

Not with the Double Up format!! Interest remains to the final few weeks, every player is in contention right through to the final rounds and most years the winner is not decided until the very last Friday night. And, that final winner can come from anywhere on the table with just weeks remaining.

Yes, the basics remain the same. You must tip each weekly and you need to tip winners to accumulate points. Pick the round correctly and gain a bonus 100 points. Now the twist! At least 5 times during the season you must make a double up selection on a Friday night game. At risk is doubling up all of your current points by selecting a winner, or losing everything and returning to zero by selecting a loser. And yes, that’s right, not just once but you must do this at least 5 times during the season, or as many times as you like (or need to to climb the leader board). The double up twist adds some strategy, risk and challenge – when do you decide to play this option, how often do you decide to play it, and so on, and as the season unfolds the real game begins – tipping winners, playing your double up options correctly and climbing the leader board. We’ve seen weeks where 80% of all players double up on an upset loser and all return to zero in one hit; other weeks where a recent double up loser is back amongst the top 10 on the leader board after picking the round and then doubling up correctly a few times; and competitions not decided until the last few minutes of the Friday night games of the very last round, the changes and intrigue continue round after round right to end.

So if you’re looking for a fun way to follow the league season, your own tipping fortunes, and a format that will keep you more than interested for the complete term then the Double Up tipping comp is just for you.

Rules and Guidelines

Weekly Selections
- Make a selection for all games available for the weekly round
or
- Make one Double Up selection from the Friday night games (nominate the winner, then tick the double up option next to your selection)
- Once submitted your selections can not be altered (by anyone, including Admin)
- All selections must be made by the nominated close off time prior to the first game of the round (normally 7.30pm Friday).
- Each round will be closed and locked off at the nominated close time, and no additional selections can be accepted for that round

Points Allocation and Scoring
- 1 point is awarded for any correct selection
- 0 points are awarded for any incorrect selection
- 100 bonus points are awarded (in addition) for correctly picking the round (all winners), the bonus is available for every round (be it 8 games or less)
- You may nominate a Draw as a selection for any game (a draw is still a possible result at the end of golden point extra time), and if correct will count as a correct selection (worth 1 point)
- In the event of a drawn result for any game points can only be awarded for a correct draw selection, all other selections will be treated as losing selections

Double Up option
- May be played at any time (from Round 2 onwards)
- Can only be played on a Friday Night game (unless otherwise stated for a round)
- Can only be played on one game
- To play the Double Up option make your selection in one game only from those available for this round, then tick the double up box for that game
- Must be played at least 5 times during the season (minimum 5 times)
- Can be played as many times as you wish during the season (no maximum)
- A correct Double Up selection will double your current points score
- An incorrect Double Up selection will result in the loss of all points and return your score to zero
- Golden Point extra time does count toward the final winner of a game
- A Drawn game result equals no winning result and so all double up selections will be judged as losing selections
- In the event of there being only one Friday night game, that game shall be the only double up option, in the event of there being no NRL Friday night games the double up game shall become the Sunday Ch 9 TV game for that round.

Draw option
- You may nominate a Draw as a selection for any game (a draw is still a possible result at the end of golden point extra time), and if correct will count as a correct selection (worth 1 point).

Final Competition Winner
- The final winner shall be declared as the person with the most points following the final home and away round, Round 26
- To qualify as the winner the player must have Doubled Up a minimum of 5 times during the course of the season (there is no maximum double up limit)
- In the event of a possible tie the winner shall be declared on a count back based on a) the correct number of double ups; b) (if required following (a) the number of correct 8 selection rounds; and so on until finalised.
- In the event of any final ruling being required the competitions admin managements decision will be final

Entry
- Competition entry is open to anyone
- Any person may enter as many times as they wish
- Entry is open during the first 4 rounds of the NRL competition
- Late entry (in weeks / rounds 2, 3 or 4) is fine, and with the double up format will not disadvantage anyone
- Entry will close at 7.30pm Friday April 1st
- Entry is subject to full payment of the $40 entry fee
- Payment must be received by Friday 8th April for your entry and ongoing rights to be confirmed
- Admin reserves the right to cancel any membership if required

Payment
- Competition entry fee is $40 per person
- Payment can be made by Pay Pal @ $41 including Pay Pal admin fee
- Payment can be made by Direct Bank Deposit
- Payment must be finalised by Friday 8th April (prior to the commencement of Round 5)
- No payment, no play. Any memberships no paid up by the due date will be cancelled

Prize Pool
- $35 of every entry fee will be paid into the final prize pool
- 1st position will be paid 70% of the final prize pool
- 2nd position will be paid 20% of the final prize pool
- 3rd position will be paid 10% of the final prize pool
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be the only prizes paid

Admin / Web Site Costs
- $5 from every entry fee will be retained toward the ongoing annual running costs of the competition including web site, hosting, software etc.

Going to join in on the fun this year  :)

Will be making quite a few changes to the site as we go along, so expect for the experience to improve as we make it more appealing to the eye, and finish off the final touches.

None of which should have any effect on entering your tips onto the site.

Any problems and or issue, please let me know, and I will see what I can do to fix it   emthup

Near 40 people registered already, so we should get close to the 100 or so players and a prize pool of around $2,500.  8-)

Hi

I'm in, as is my niece and nephew.  We're all looking forward to it...

However, I didn't get my activation email.  I think it may be because it would have been sent to my work address and may have been blocked.  I did get Cam's (my nephew's) which was sent to my hotmail account.

Magic/777 - are you able to re-send it?
