Had to eat humble pie after saying Melbourne Storm were over rated.
Some comments....from sport and media identities in Melbourne.....
Seriously, if an AFL caller was as ridiculously hostile to a particular team as Gould is, they'd last five minutes. It's comical.
Nothing better then hearing Gus Gould trying to make excuse about every team the storm plays. Suck it up Gus the @storm are the Greatest
I enjoy how much Storm winning hurts Phil Gould
Someone go and give Phil Gould a hug.
You can tell Gus Gould respects this Storm outfit but he only admits it out loud through gritted teeth
Good judge Gus Gould jog on pal ... Storm have been above average consistently all season. Brilliant season & now premiers
Phil, is there ever any danger you could ever say one single positive thing about the Storm? Just once? Maybe? Even when we score
It was almost nauseating to me. For some reason, we don’t play in the NRL’s face too much. I think there is enormous envy about the Melbourne Storm from the Sydney football mafia.
Gould won the TV Week Logie Award for "Most Popular Sporting Commentator" in 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008.The last of those was nine years ago, surely as  a commentator he has reached his used by date.Anyway who votes for those Logies ????

As a Rugby League fan I am glad Melbourne are a success but this current squad or more to the point the big are tainted by the Salary cap scandel and always will be.

They, as Canterbury should have been in 2002 should have been required to lose more players.

Gould it should be said was critical of Cronulla last season as well, He said they won a weak competition.

I tend to think he says what he truly believes.

When the Sydney Swans won the AFL premiership they were embraced by the whole AFL community, And I know of no commentator who thought otherwise.

I would say 99.9% of the NRL media are in awe of Melbourne.

I would also suggest there would be 0.1% at least in the Melbourne media who think Sydney and Greater Western Sydney get an unfair advantage.

Bubba, did you actually hear what Gus said?

Clearly if you had you wouldn't be ranting off on some weird tangent. Gus was 100% in what he said and anyone who had bothered to actually listen and not regurgitate the sensationalist headline would know that.

I suggest you take a listen then grab a slice of that humble pie on your way back ......

Fortunately in Melbourne for the home and away season we only watch NRL on SKY 502 and Gould does not call the games on that channel. Unfortunately he calls the GF & SOG  on free to air in Melbourne.. What a relief not to have to listen to his biased call but for those 4 games..

Each individual quote in my initial post was from a range of media and sporting identities, who had reason to believe Gould was over the top in his call of the game. Apparently I am not the only one south of the Murray who, according to you, may have "selective hearing".
Maybe you are so used to Gould's calls that are you are unaware of the bias he has against Storm.

When I last looked on the comments at the bottom of that linked I posted there were 168 posts and all gave Gould the bird, in literal terms.

What does the N in NRL stand for ? If Sydney want their own competition change the name to SRL.
Storm and the two Queensland sides are clearly the best three sides in the competition and that is why it is the NRL not the SRL.

Again, I'd suggest you listen to it, maybe even get the trumped up AFL star to as well. Try and even understand it while you are there.

Seeing Bubba is unwilling or unable to comprehend here it is https://wwos.nine.com.au/podcasts/six-tackles-with-gus

From memory it's about 12 minutes in.

Most of those comments by the media and sporting identities were about his calling of the grand final, I doubt any of those identities would have listened or would have been aware of Gould's pre match podcast,
Listening to that podcast it is obvious that Gould is no fan of Storm. At one point he said if a Queensland team met Storm in the GF he would have no problem with the game being played at Suncorp stadium in Brisbane, but not at the MCG in front of 90,000 . What is his point , on one hand it is ok in Brisbane but not in Melbourne ?
The crowd capacity at the MCG is far greater than Suncorp so where is his logic ?
It is already proven they get more at any sporting event in Melbourne than any where else in Australia
The  largest ever crowd of 91,513 at a state of origin game was at the  MCG, in Melbourne, the only time a SOG has been played there.

I have not read or heard of any Adelaide supporters  or media bagging  the television commentary of the AFL  grand final , which of course, is what this topic is not about, but Gould's biased call of the NRL grand final

There's your quote from your first post Bubba.

Now you expect us to believe it had something to do with his calling of the game?  please

At least be educated before you attempt to throw mud, btw - how did your slice of pie go?
