With the amount of money we'll win in those first 4 weeks you won't want to stop  8)

Should be a pretty good season actually, I'm keen.

I wish I knew mate.

I have to come up with three winners by Thursday night so I'm hoping someone can help before then.

Highlanders vs Brumbies - Highlanders are a solid bottom 3 contender, so Brumbies will definitely be looking for a win here
Western Force vs Blues ??? close... but probably WF, Blues have some injury problems already
Lions vs Cheetahs ??? close - battle for the wooden spoon starts here
Crusaders vs Cheifs - should be some value here... Crusaders are vulnerable, Chiefs are a scoring machine and touched up the Hurricanes in a trial match on the weekend
Hurricanes vs Waratahs - Hurricanes should go close to minor premiers, and they'll be looking to win all their home games, solid challenge first up for both teams.
Stormers vs Sharks ??? close - probably Sharks, two teams are pretty close and at least one of them will make the semi's... Stormers tend to play a bit ordinary at home for some reason though.
Bulls vs Reds - Bulls should win, but wait to see the teams, if no Matfield and du Preez it could be a bit closer than expected.

Just going on UniTAB prices, the Chiefs and the Brumbies definitely seem to be overs.

Western Force looks to be good value too... Auckland will be missing Rudi Wulf and Ali Williams (both injured), as well as Kaino and Rokocoko (both about to become first time dads), so the Force at home should be too hard to beat - they were impressive in a trial game against the Reds last week too, led something like 19-0 early in the 2nd half before they benched everyone - which led to the Reds eventually running them down in the last few minutes.

...and while I think Sharks are slight favourites against the Stormers, the TAB has them lined up at 1.67 - I'll be looking at having something on the Stormers at those prices - especially if Bekker ends up playing, which would help their chances.

Force have a terrible home record BT - they are better on the road :what:

Not really PM, last year they only had 6 home games, and the ones they lost we

24-28 v Crusaders (minor premiers and GF winners)
16-32 v Stormers (5th - just missed the semis, equal points with Hurricanes)
12-17 Waratahs (2nd in regular season, GF runner-up)

I don't think they went that badly... their three wins were only narrow too, but against the Chiefs, Brumbies and Bulls who all finished around them on the table... only seems like they are better on the road because last year that's where they played all the bottom teams.

Betchoice are one of a few that have put up some S14 x NRL doubles. Plenty of value if you can find the needle in the haystack  ;) Similar markets also available for AFL.

This is looking like one of my parlays at this stage

Lions   -5pts  $2.00
Crusaders -7.5  $1.90
Bulls -11.5  $1.90

Will pay just over $18

Might change the last two so I can get the $2  each for them.

Would have to have the Bulls at -13 and the Crusaders -9

The Bulls should open up with a nice win at home, however I think the Cheetahs should roll the Lions and also i'd be looking at the team the Crusaders put on the park as they're notorious for resting their top squad early on.

Do the Crusaders even have a top squad this year?

They may very well do ok, but culture and enthusiasm can only take you so far... I'll be backing their opposition every game while there is huge value there or they prove they can handle it this year.

Losing Robbie Deans and Dan Carter is a huge enough loss by themselves, but add to that players like Caleb Ralph, Greg Somerville, Reuben Thorne, Mose Tuiali’i and Ali Williams (plus a few more) and there is no way in the friggin' world that they are going to cover those changes and still finish at the top this year... I seriously can't believe how they are still favourites to win the comp this year... gotta be one of the biggest false favourites in the history of sport I reckon.

I haven't seen the Bulls team yet, but the Reds have a few problems - McMeniman had to turn around and come straight back home due to a family illness and Morgan Turinuri is out with a shoulder injury, that probably rules out any chance of an upset... if there was one, they have a tough first two and last two rounds, but hopefully can string a few wins together in the middle there somewhere.

For those who are interested - I've setup a RacehorseTalk league in this fantasy rugby comp:

http://fantasy.rugby.com.au/

The password is: supersub

Feel free to join, I think we need at least 5 players - should be a bit of fun.

(I've got a pretty good idea for a tipping comp too - more on that later tonight).

Forgot to mention - the above s14 fantasy comp has a weekly prize of a rugby ball signed by all the captains of all four Australian teams... so well worth a try - there is also a 'get the computer to select my team for me' option for those who have no idea who any of these people are :)
