Different players though Jeunes.

Both Pearce & Maloney are organisers while Walker is a running 5/8.

Without someone to take charge Walker is lost.

That's my point Gin.

Walker needs someone outside him running the plays. Cook and Reynolds are good that way.

In State of Origin, Cleary is not an organisor while Maloney and Pearce are.

He reminds me of Daley in some ways but a long way to get to that level consistently.

Just been watching the Hong Kong protest march on CNN.

I haven't seen a crowd as large since our SOS  (Save Our Souths ) march from Souths Leagues at Redfern to the Sydney Town Hall nineteen years ago.

Has Piggins reconciled with Souths yet? Heard rumours that this was on the cards or happened already.

We started the 90s with Norths, Manly, Balmain, Wests, St George, Illawarra and Souths.

Other than the Manly and South, the rest have merged with the exception of poor Norths.

Without Piggins, Souths would be another casualty of the League politics.

Flip side almost 2 decades on, 6 Super league sides have won premierships, Brisbane, Sharks, Dogs, Panthers, Storm and Cowboys. ARL teams that have won are the Rabbits, Knights, Manly and Roosters. While two merged teams in Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra have won too.

We though lost the Crushers, Chargers, Perth, Hunter and Adelaide .

20 years on other than tv rights, the war seems a lifetime ago.

George had always reconciled with the club, the jumper, the colours & players.
The problem was with that grub Holmes a court and Crowe and I donít think that has changed

As to the war, I still havenít forgotten or forgiven

did you march ?

Yes I did.

A number of my immediate family marched. Alongside me marched a thirteen year old girl loved one.

The crowd near us was chanting "Murdoch's a  :censored: , Murdoch's a  :censored: ".

I've been one for frowning on coarse language from children so she looked at me imploringly.

I just nodded.

So off she went "Murdoch's a  :censored: , Murdoch's a  :censored: ".

I got into trouble from her mother.

Also rat, I was in the actual courtroom when the reinstatement decision was handed down to bring us back into the comp.

Entering the courtroom I was followed by my brother and his wife.

I entered-my brother entered-and then the attendant put his arms up to signal "room full' so his wife watched the proceedings on a TV in the ante room.

I've dined out on that display of gentlemanly conduct a few times since :)

JWH, bravado aside, what was the mood like?

I knew a few oldies who have passed on who told me they feared it was going against them as they all felt Sydney clubs were being sacrificed for ďprogressĒ.

Don't know about "'bravado" I'm more of one for understatement rather that overstatement.

What was the mood like?

Well, the reason I mentioned the Hon Kong protests was that I think the mood was something like that.

"Determined opposition" might be a relevant term.

I remember, when we were assembling outside the club ,looking around to see whether there was any visible support from other club. The two I did see were a contingent from Canterbury and a bus tour group from Newcastle. Tyhere might have been others but they were the two I saw.

I knew Murdoch was worried when the next day the Telegraph estimated the crowd at 18000-20000 and the police at 80,000.

There were many clubs that day and no I did not as was working. I like many thought Souths would lose in the end as Murdoch and NRL had made a pact with sacrificial lambs.

The NRL and Paytv would have loved Perth, Adelaide, South Queensland Crushers and Central Coast sides now. Bigger audience and revenue. Now Foxtel is losing money so NRL tv rights will reduce too.

Yes it would be better but the stupidity of using the Rabbitohs as the tool to achieve that goal was arrogant, dishonest and inconceivable dumb

Issue for another day is what would the league have looked like if they kept all the teams.

The population in Australia and technology has grown extraordinarily over the last two decades. Would they have supported the Bears, Tigers, Magpies, Saints, Steelers, Adelaide, Perth and the Crushers etc?

We will never know but I doubt the talent is there to support 20 teams. AFL is struggling with 18 teams.

Some teams will be lucky to win a title in 20 years. I doubt that some of the current clubs win win a title in next 3 years.

Hope he gets 8 weeks. That means he pulls his head in and returns just before the semis. His farewell lap where he looks to make amends

Having tipped the Cows I was happy with myself with about 7 to go  :icecream: If he caught that ball with the line wide open I'd say it would have put it to bed.

Hate to say it but the Rabbits lack a bit of fire power compared to the start of the season.

At one stage Reynolds and Walker contributed quite heavily with Cook being the X factor. Now and then the halves are going missing at times.

They need a bit more beef at the front for a roll on and the scoreline flattered them at the end. Not sure where the Burgess brothers are but they need at least one more impact forward who can play some decent minutes.

Still think if the Roosters get their best players firing are the team to beat. However the Storm, Rabbits and even the Raiders can challenge them if they are off their game.
