A big watch on Inspector.  One of his owners used to be a forum member before he was told to button his lip.  I always pushed that the race for him was the Hareeba (as he is trained on the track by Peter White) and here we are.  He's been up a long time but that isn't unusual for White (remember Jungle Ruler) and these weights could unfold nicely for him.

It's raining !  It's patchy but some heavy falls about up to 30mm.  Drying for the rest of the week.

Tonto
You've just started this thread and I see that "report to moderator " indication is on the left side of the page. Maybe it's got something to do with your set-up.

Thanks JWH  I see what you mean.

It is only this thread though.  I think I'll leave well enough alone.

Edit :  Actually it is the same throughout the forum and has been since we had a problem with the Race Records thread (PP7 broke it) and MagiC had to be called in to fix it.  Those tags have shifted since then.  It's weird because they don't shift in the lead post only in the replies.  But everything works so I am not really fussed.

While I agree it is no big deal it only appears for me where there is a table posted in that format.

I have deleted the first message with the Hareeba Stakes table  but it made no difference to subsequent messages.  I'll try deleting the lead post...

That did it.  Good call Sobig.  Just what element of the table causes the shift I don't know... yet... so I have put things back the way they were but when the table in the lead post is removed it shifts those tags back. ....

Funny that.  The only thing I have changed is that I removed the DIV tags which centers the layout.  That seems to be the issue.  So I will leave it left aligned and the Report to Moderator tag seems to stay put.

Punters -- abandon Mornington cup day

Of all the rough results served up by RVL nothing beats regional 'cup' meetings substituting for Melbourne metropolitan racing.

............... be very wary of the Mornington cup meeting on Saturday...... look at last year's bloodbath

https://www.tab.com.au/racing/2016-04-02/MORNINGTON/M/R/10

Any TAB punter betting at this meeting risks being declared 'incompetent' by the commissioner for protective custody .... there is no bail .... the kids cop the lot.

Gentle readers can check the F4 and Quaddie dividends themselves -- I can only ring the warning bell.

........ Saturday will tell the tale ....... as will the next Saturday after another rort at Bendigo.

For the life of me I can't understand what you are getting at Peter.   You seem to want all the favourites to win and the exotics to pay the smallest dividends.

I can't understand this because that is exactly the situation in which the punters are at the greatest disadvantage in terms of roundings - when the favourites win, when the most units are on the winner.  The TAB absolutely loves favourites winning.  If they had their way favourites would win every time because the most profit is taken by the tote when they do.

There was no bloodbath at Mornington last year.  I looked it up as soon as you posted it, and even the long shot winner certainly wasn't a hopeless case.

Have you thought about gardening.  It is very rewarding, gets you out doors and is good for the soul.  I just don't think punting is your thing.

Peters got his own barrow to push. Thus he twists the results to suit his self promoting cause

The Gold Trail looks fairly ominous compared to what Appleby brought here in the spring. Painfully long way out but might have a spec bet on him for the cup, could be one of the favourites by tomorrow night.

Pete and I quote  "Any TAB punter betting at this meeting risks being declared 'incompetent' by the commissioner for protective custody .... there is no bail .... the kids cop the lot."

Pete that should read "any TAB punter should be declared "incompetent" full stop!

and any Punter who can be told what races to bet in and what horses to back and had to be on all 4 consecutive winners before collecting should be declared incompetent as well.........which is what you do when you take quadrellas............ bloody greed and insanity are the driving factors behind taking multiples of anything

Broke down just past the post. Wold be surprised if it isn't euthanized  :(

Tally is a good Group 3 horse just a couple of lengths below top rung. Good win just beating my bet at big odds

Sad end to a great days racing.

The Gold Trail has broken it's sesamoids but was speedily put down by the vets in front of the stand.   Craig Williams was out cold but regained consciousness, was moving his limbs and talking before the ambulance arrived on course to take him to hospital.

Godolphin can take some consolation from Tally's win but The Gold Trail was a great loss.
