One thing about Incentivise's wide barrier is now you can at least consider having something small on possible other winning chances.
It still wouldn't surprise me if he is still just too good....$2.40 is very short all the same.....he'll need plenty of luck.

I liked the Australian Derby  form.....esp. on a wet track....Young Werther and Explosive Jack.

I had a little on Charms Star @$100....lovely little staying mare by Per Incanto out of a wet track, winning Zed mare.
She was good in the NZ Oaks going left handed and got knocked around in the Metrop.
Bit of Analight?......possibly!

Melbourne does look to be getting the 20-30mm of rain that was predicted.

The track manager was confident the track will drain quickly if there is no rain in the morning.
But still very much a rain affected track.

I did sneak a few $'s on Great House when I heard he was off to Melbourne......got $121.....now $41 on Tab.
Randwick on Metrop day was far too hard for the son of Galileo......he did run well though.
Barrier 2 and 50kgs..... less weight the better on wet tracks.....just have to find a 50kg jockey.....I'd give Alana Kelly the ride!

It will be interesting to see if there is a plan with Incentivse and the barrier.

Prebble will have to put in a "John Stocker" who rode one of the most magnificent rides ever in a Group 1 when winning on the top class mare How Now in the Caulfield Cup way baqck when.

Delphi has similarly drawn bad.

The barrier draw is certainly a leveller.

If they are running on late watch out for Montefilia to place.

Explosive Jack and Young Werther drawn to go well. She's Ideel one for exotics at big odds with the light weight.

Your memory is sharp PP . Great ride by Stocker to get over on the fence on How Now. Prebble couldn't do it but what we have now found out is that Prebble was on  a different class of horse: didn't need to. Amazing performance.. I was at Caulfield 24 years ago Today and backed that wonderful horse Might and Power at 14/1 to win this great race and thought I might not ever see the equal of it. Think that got bloody close.

Worst Caulfield Cup I can remember. More like Mt Wycheproof than Mt Baw Baw.  20 mins before the start one market had a horse that had only won one race (no black type) third favourite at $11.  It started at $16. The weight scale for the race is another pointer. I note said horse is equal fifth fav for the Mt Bogong in one Sunday paper which doesn't say much about the Bogong as Melbourne's greatest race.  Tell me I am wrong. PS for those of you who don't know Mt Wycheproof it is a tougher climb to the top row of a grandstand at the MCG.

Cheers

The jock was a bit unlucky but geez Montafelia should have run 2nd.

Posted 3 and 4 deep the entire race and was still running on at the end for 4th or 5th.
