Without getting into covid and politics, I did not understand why they could not put one camera person or a stationary unmanned camera in the steward’s room. It would have been great theatre.

I thought the protest would have been upheld after it took so long. Great ride by the first two to cut inside. VE went the long route and if she went inside with the other two, she would have challenged them too.

I wonder what they will do with VE now? Mackinnon or the Cup?

Yes
I gave it little chance but as time went on I grew a little hopeful  :x: :x:

But then my usual luck kicked in.

JWH, the first time I watched it, I thought it would be dismissed but listening to the channel 7 broadcast, I changed my mind too.

Without being too critical of Anamoe, his racing pattern needs a lot of luck. He could have been unbeaten this preparation if he raced a bit closer like his wins this preparation.

I hope there is a rematch in the Mackinnon stakes.

Protests in iconic events ... it is just not cricket .. none beyond-doubt will be upheld, ever

The cultural imperative, for the industry to just accept the over-the-line history of historical events, is 'unquestionable'.

................ vocal resistance to the 'unquestionable' becomes the magical marketing angle that ensures everlasting publicity for the 'historical event'.

.................. what precludes the declaration of a dead-heat?

See? You don't need to drive taxis.
You could be a pro punter.
Well done Zukes, the old hierarchy applies.
US form beats UK form beats Aus form.
Due to Covid, he probably had an empty flight, could get up, move around, talk to hostess, stretch out.
Travelling man.
Now, how about your Melbourne Cup tips?
We are waiting big head.

That was actually a typo.
Autodial crap.
I meant to write 'big time.'
Not sure how, but apologies.
Yes Wiles it woulda been unnecessary.
I was trying to be funny, but still congratulated our favorite tipster..not that schizo.
(Apologies to schizophrenic people who love whales)

No worries Shogues but you got that spot on.

I think the English/Irish and Yanks have better middle distance horses than us.

French and German for that matter although we can produce top shelf at times.

I was trying to find something in this but couldn't really.  Anamoe is a great colt but not too many colts win a Cox.

Then I saw the Saratoga Derby.  Good 'ol YouTube.  That was a hell of a win.

My worry was lack of pace but by jingo he got a great ride.

I reckon Anamoe was dead set stiff....never mind a couple of hundreds bucks I missed out on.
Robert Cram (chief steward) could hardly have been more unconvincing.

What in particular irks me is I lost a race on 17th Feb 2016.....High Church lost on protest to Bascule.
Same margin with no contact......Craig Williams convinced the Vic Stewards that Bascule was denied his rightful line that he had established.
I will say High Church wasn't helped a great deal by Nic Hall in the protest room.
I had a $20 double with Assign....won @ $20.....a $4k result gone.

Anamoe got bumped and was pushed back toward the fence and yet looked to be in front again a little after the post.
Anamoe was entitled to the line he had established 3m or so off the rail....he ended up against the rail.

I must say what an insult to one of the great mares of the turf to see that crude tongue tie on Verry Elleegant.....she hated it in the parade....poor girl.
Didn't look to help her at all.

A way off topic but relevant to tipping.

I'll give anyone a real good tip.
Yesterday arvo we got pelted with hail stones the size of golf balls...and bigger.
Absolutely horizontal driven by winds I've never seen before.....man it was scary...lasted 10 minutes.

Don't ever buy, build or let a loved one move into a house that sits below the natural ground level.....poor bloody neighbours.
No tile roofs and no 3mm glass in windows either.....thankfully I had none.

This might be an argument for another thread but other than a couple of horses like Anamoe and Artorius, this 3yo crop at this stage of the season does not look that strong to compete against the older horses.

I think Profondo can surpass them all if he grows. The others including the sprinters / milers will be competitive in the autumn when they mature. There are a couple of nice types running in the Derby next week who can step up in Autumn if the Derby does not take too much out of the runners as it has done in previous years.

Don't worry about him Ratsack. I realized a long time ago he is just your garden variety Racist. Can't get much lower than that. Leave him in the bottom of the pit where he so richly belongs.

I wouldn't mind someone here explaining just how Marshall's comment about State of Rest constitutes any sort of tip....any????
Most people would say his Callsign Mav comment was much more of a "tip"

If Marshall had only spoken to a couple of Kiwis.....they could have told him there has always been a big doubt on Callsign Mav over 2000m.

I reckon it's fair enough to get a bit excited after a win....there would be many on here that that one way or another have let the forum know 'they've had a win"
Just put up the slip....should you get asked!
I also take my hat off to people who have a go with a tip on here.....I would prefer the reasoning....but that's just me.

Finally Wily, bit rich your "necessary" comment.....You can also explain why any of your comments about PM are necessary!

Most of you blokes aren't very social and I wouldn't spit on you if you were dying of thirst in the desert.

I'm just happy to have got the cash.  Lucked out backing the second horse in the CC so my account now looks

a lot better heading into the MC.  But I only backed him at the last second.  Wasn't going to have a bet

because I couldn't see any speed.  Did dismiss Mav after watching a couple of his NZ runs.

Well because he’s dishonest, he admitted he posts here for his own gain. He pushes his own agenda. He invents scenarios to suit his agenda. He doesn’t discuss or answer questions when put to him. He posts the same cut Nd paste across numerous threads. He doesn’t contribute to the overall forum aside prom his own brain farts which have been proven to be, dishonest, wrong and baseless

In short he spams this forum and doesn’t contribute
