TBA because it will be based on how much they get from the light rain that should hit Melbourne in the next hour or so.
Cal, it refers to what irrigation has been done in the last 24 hours; not what they might do today or tomorrow.

Errr...so when does the practical 'window of safe opportunity to water' end? Wouldn't they need some time to let it soak in, and not be 'greasy' or toppy?
What time would be the last time they could water? surely not after lunch time today? only 2 to 6mm expected if that.
Another poorly managed aspect of racing...we should have very clear updates easily accessible and statements of intent regards watering I reckon.
Americain would like to know.

I am happy to allow the curator plenty of flexibility to play it by ear as the day unfolds.
Its just too hard to predict what the weather is gonna do, particularly in Melbourne.

That said, there is no reason why they can't report what has been done accurately and promptly, particularly around carnival time.

They are ensuring a dead track, as always. How dead is dead, is the question...
Will it be the ole dead for the first two races then upgrade scenario?

I would say that is almost certain to be the case.

I thought the track would be on the improve, but it has been cold and blustery and drizzle all day. Think it is going to stay a genuine slow for the whole meeting tomorrow, if it continues to drizzle suspect the track will chop up and they will come off the rails.

That head on for the opening event makes interesting viewing.

First three across the line were the three furthermost away from the rails, and not by some trivial amount either.

How is from Mornington to Flemington? heavy 8 and rain there. Looking at a map it must only be 30 or 40k as the crow flies

I notice Caulfield has gone from a Good 3 to a Soft 5 overnight.

Very nice of the BOM to put Caulfield slap bang in the middle of the map.

And look. No clouds over it

Red Excitement is a late scratching from the Carlyon.

Wonder if the weather had anything to do with that  :chin:
