I liked Packing Award before the draw. 12 is yuk at the odds

I thought the $5 was  :icecream:

Goes close last time if he goes straight, still got his head up in the run today but went gun barrel in the home stretch when it mattered  :clap2:

If you ever want to see an 11 out of 10 have a watch of Moreira's ride on Fairy Floss  :clap2:  :noteworthy:

By the way,

That horse missed the start badly - so a good non panicked ride to over come that AND a good horse too.

What's the point of this fours?

Don't you think it might be better to point out Bulb Pals beat London Banker and Zaniah in trials in NZ about 3 years ago.
It's not as if a lot would take notice and the pools are so big, it wouldn't affect them.

Why did you back him apart from the jockey?
Did he trial well in Honkers?

nemisis,

The Shinn situation is something that crops up from time to time in differenet venues at different times. All it takes is for 1 or 2 jockeys to have virtually ALL of the market focus and that ca create unders on them and overs on a new jockey coming to the area whose talent is not recognised in that market.

The Shinn situation has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.

Already made any comments I would make on the last horse.

Blake Shinn is a decent rider, but why did you back Bulb Pals?

Was it only because of the jock?......it's not a difficult question.
It's obvious now Bulb Pals is a horse with ability and problems.

I would congratulate you if you pointed out that you did go to NZ trials and went from there.
Good work if you did!

nemisis,

Just the Jockey.

Simply look at the jockeys number of rides since I first mentioned this on this thread and add up the returns.

Hugely profitable.

Today alone shows that but is not unusual.

I don't do the jockey thing fours.

Can't see that as a long term winning strategy.....better off going hunting for the best horse IMO

nemisis,

I do lots of things at once.

The Shinn situation will last as long as it lasts..... best not to have fixed ideas on how long that is.

ps I would check your assumption that finding the best horse in the race is the key to profits if I was you. Much better things can be used.

The best horse relative to conditions, weight etc is always the best strategy....I will never see it any other way.

Tell me the 3 best mares in the last race at Eagle Farm yesterday didn't run 1,2,3.
And that on a track I have no confidence!

nemisis,

I will give you a hint ..... Win bettors tends to let this grossly bias their views compare to exotic bettors.

I don't need hints fours.
Having one of two back up options is a great idea.....that would be the 2nd and 3rd best horses.

Might have taken me a while to stop going for the big knock-out bets....but I got there now.

I just looked at Bulb Pals trials....well done to all concerned.
Tendon injury so it would have been a long road back.

Good result for the owners and good result for anyone prepared to to the work.
Rip Van Winkle and the Galileo breed  probably not really suited to those tracks in Hong Kong.

3 trials off a long lay off were only moderate. You could argue he should have been longer than 40/1

All great fours except Purton was on a $9 pop & JM a $35 chance. Doesn't really back up your theory here.

I find that  a surprising comment from someone who watches videos.

If you knew you were watching a horse with considerable ability......take that knowledge with you and go and watch his trials again.
The fact that everyone persevered with him in Hong Kong should be a big enough tip.....at least worth something.

I wish fours had drawn my attention to him before the race....I would have checked out his NZ videos.

I couldn't care less about following any jockey.

I'm just interested in the story around Bulb Pals....that is a great story, very well done to all involved and I hope everyone that knew his story cleaned up yesterday.
