That's it....bloody self-isolation and I've just thrown a brick through the TV screen.
That friggin' Josh Fleming send me troppo with his 1000th "and the starter Mr Ross Hansen" this year.
He's not a bad caller but for God's sake stop the terrible repetition. WHY, WHY, WHY ....Is he Mr Ross Hansen's love child????

Must be a "Northern" thing.

"The starter Mr Rex Kelly" gets a big run on any Northern Rivers meet.

Sorry, despite hearing it 1000 times I have not been paying attention. It is "The starter, Mr Russell Hansen" NOT Mr Ross Hansen.
And you are right, Anthony Collins has a similar man crush on "Mr Rex Kelly''.
Weird and unnecessary.

Old Col Hodges at Dubbo missed the winner of the 3rd until about the 150m despite it clearly coming through on the rail and running on, he came back to call the leaders twice in the straight yet still failed to see the only horse on the inside

Sunshine Coast Race 7 No2 My Belly Button.

Josh Fleming says at the start "My Belly Button has come out awkwardly".

What about the last at Sydney.

There was a horrific fall. Richie Callendar goes "we'll bring you news straight away" then proceeds to yak on about tomorrow's racing, then starts cracking bad jokes with Brad Davison about his tips tomorrow then it is we are signing off.

Absolutely f. disgraceful lack of judgement.

Hope Brock Ryan is OK. His family must be worried sick.

A couple of the jockeys who ran out to see Brock Ryan after the nasty fall in the last suggesting he is a bit concussed but moving and hopefully nothing serious. Taking him to hosptital for scans. Carluca walked away from the incident thankfully too.

Thanks sobig.

I suspect he would be responding to views such as my own.

Jockey lying on the track concussed and him and RC cracking jokes????  Then for RC to say just "that's it from us out here...."???

A bit off topic but for how long has Callendar been back on the TV coverage?

A bit off topic but for how long has Callendar been back on the TV coverage?

He's been doing meetings like Warren and the like for a few weeks now.

Greg Radley must have had the night off so we were subjected to his "wisdom" at Canterbury.

Can someone at Sky get rid of Col Hodges. He is by far the worst TAB caller in Australia. There are so many meetings in the areas where he calls every week that it is time he was told sayonara. Everyone tells you what a great guy he is and all that : and it is probably true. However Mother Teresa was reportedly a great person ; but she didn't call the Dubbo gallops. Surely they can find someone else.

Any chance Sky could get rid of Col Hodges. His calls Today from Parkes are a blight on the Industry.

Seems Gunbower is gunning for you Col.

Cowra race 5 - If Col Hodges didn't call Camp Rifle - Camp David 15 times, it was 20. Come to think of it I can't recall him getting it right once

Bloody hell

last race Tamworth
There I was following Expellable on the rails......fading in the straight...... likely to miss a place and then approaching the post caller, Greg Kachel, i think it was tells me that Expellable is finishing so well out wide that he will win.

Not so

Got his bloody horses mixed up.

Yes JWH I was following the same horse in the run but I knew it wasn't the one he was calling. He had already apologized earlier in the day because he had called the wrong horse. Sad, because I like his voice ; just accuracy is a bit of a problem.  As I have said previously probably better to stick to Col Hodges because you never get trapped into an understanding that the race caller has any idea what is going on.

In their defence...

Sometimes the jockeys have totally different colours to what is in the form guide and caps of different colours too.

But this only absolves them some of the time.

I’m never one to criticise a racecaller as it’s one of the toughest jobs in the world with thousands of people ready to give their immediate, unpaid and unsought
assessment of their endeavour.

Maybe “rarely” rather than “never”

And maybe I should have said “ since Hilton Donaldson gave the game away”

However I thought some might be interested as to why I nearly slit my wrist yesterday.

I think I will stay on the bandwagon. Whenever you think there is a remote possibility that there is a worse race caller in Australia  than Col Hodges he never lets you down. Listen to his call of the last at Mudgee Today . An absolute pearler !! Would have to be a major shareholder in TAB to still be getting the Guernsey.
