ONLINE PAPERS v. HARD-COPY FORM GUIDES

.......... in Sydney, the 'home delivery' of newspapers has largely been sub-contracted to operators often disinclined to actually deliver the paper.

For the most part, subscribers now forced to read their paper 'on-line' manage OK ..........but for punters, on Fridays, it has long been a considerable comfort to personally annotate a hard-copy.

Conversely, it is a considerable discomfort to read a detailed form guide 'on line'.

My understanding is that the publication of 'form guide inserts' is subsidized by the racing industry ............  if so, it raises the prospect of most punters being beter-off if form guide inserts were made available in TAB agencies, at a modest price if not free-of-charge.

................ in NSW the best form-guide insert comes with the Sydney Morning Herald on Fridays........ it would be instructive if print runs of this insert were made available at TAB agencies .......  the delivery of 'bulk bundles' to high-street locations would not be beyond the capability of the independent contractors  or those newsagents still having local distribution rights.
