I think Alan Doyle passed  away as well, only a few weeks earlier.

Have lost quite a few with a good friend, Dan Dempsey passing last year during covid.

Yes Magic : pretty sure Stylish Century may have started with Noel .Sadly the owner wanted to train the trainer as well So a very good horse went through multiple trainers  including the best (J B Cummings ) before the owner : a fellow called "Monaghan" took over himself. Noel would have forgotten more about horses than that chap knew. Safe to assume the other trainer I mentioned also had him well covered.

On AAP they have Stylish Century winning a Doomben Maiden on the 30th November 1988 ridden by Steve Sharman but no trainer is listed.

Unfortunately they haven't matched up a trainers DB with the older racing records (would be a cow of a job).

He was trained by Fred Mitchell at some point. As gunbower points out he was with Bart Cummings. I'm thinking he may have also gone to David Hayes at some point.

I remember some things said about the owner at the time and maybe even there was a related court case

Regardless Stylish Century was one of the more exciting horses I've seen.

I was out at Randwick the day he won the Champion Stks. He had previously run as a 3yo in the George Main and was beaten 2.2 by Vo Rogue..

They then took him to Melbourne and was dropped back to 1600m in the Guineas and was a bit of a flop.

Then for the lead up race they got into the Cox Plate as a roughie. Went within an ace of knocking over Almaraad who was one of the best imports ever.

Then won the Vic Derby and then let's not stop there - ran 21st of 23rd in Tawriffic's Melbourne Cup.

Ran 2nd in the AJC Derby next year then form was less consistent when he hit a red hot bunch of older horses as a 4yo. Just looking through the names of the winners/2nds in the form results you see horses like Super Impose, Vo Rogue, Almaraad, Dr Grace, Empire Rose, Zabeel, Better Loosen Up, Rough Habit, Sydeston, Redelva, Planet Ruler, Joanne, Let's Elope and Kinjite - seems pretty unbelievable that we had all those horses running around at the same time.

Per the AFR  1991

The horse has had six trainers in his three year career - Noel Doyle at the Gold Coast, Bart Cummings in Sydney, Bill Mitchell in Sydney, Ron Gill at Caloundra and also in Melbourne, Jeff McCarter at the Gold Coast, and, since Tuesday of this week, Monaghan himself in Brisbane.
